Blog Update: 10/01/2012

Today i have researched the titles for when we make our opening sequence also our group have begun a rough cut of our opening sequence with the shots we have filmed already, we haven't filmed any of the character Jessica's part yet as we are going to film that next week because we want to review all of the footage from Ellie's section before we filmed anything else. To make our rough cut we are using Final Cut which is very difficult to get used to at first but as a group we are all gradually building up our skills and it can only improve as we edit more.

So so far today i have started researching into the titles of opening sequences, i have done this because when we come to put the titles into our opening sequence, hopefully we will have a wide range of knowledge of how titles are used. So when researching titles i have looked at how our genre likes to show the titles and the style in which they appear. But not will i just look at our genre which is Romantic Comedy but i will also look at some other unique title sequences so that my knowledge on titles is big because i can use some ideas from these titles and then input these ideas when making our opening sequence titles. The most memorable titles for me was the titles from Zombieland because of how they interacted with the clips themselves for example when a man was thrown from a high building he smashed through a set of titles which got smashed as his body came down. I think this is a great idea and could be used in a Romantic Comedy because they could appear in a diary, bed etc... Just by looking at the titles from Zombieland it has given me inspiration for our titles, even if i don't use this style i will still have knowledge on this style of titles.

After this we then uploaded our clips from our camera to Final Cut, after we had done this we selected the sections which go where and put them in the right place. We done this because we are just doing a rough copy for now so we know what we have filmed and what sections will come where. Also this can give us a time frame because we have to make our opening sequence no longer than Two minutes so we have to make sure we have no more than this amount of time given. We then put all the clips in place but with out tweaking any of them so far then we next wanted to put the song which we are going to use onto it so that we had it there as a basis to what we have filmed which we then imported the song which is Lenka-The Show.

Now that we had have everything in place we started to go through the clips and delete sections off the clips just roughly for now so that we had the good parts of the clips no all the extra unwanted stuff. To delete the sections of the clip we have to push the letter 'b' for blade which we then can section off part of the clip, we then push the letter 'a' for arrow which then gives you the arrow back so you can select the chunk of clip we no longer need then we push delete and we have got rid of the parts we don't need. Now we have finished for the day and will continue to edit the next lesson and then we are also going to plan when we will be filming our last sections which should be sometime soon.
