Today we got all of our clips that we filmed of Ellouise who played the character Jessica in our opening sequence. So we had finished all filming and we have already put on the clips of the character Ellie and edited them so that we could put the other clips of Jessica in there as well. So today we intended to upload our clips of Jessica and then put them where we wanted them to go like we did in our storyboard. We already had around 1 and a half minutes of footage that we had edited down on FinalCut and now had to add these clips to make it no longer than 2 minutes, this would be difficult because we have to show both characters getting up and going to work so after getting the best parts from Jessica's section.
So what we have to do first is go on Finalcut and upload all the footage which we took yesterday and then start choosing which bits are the best. We are seeing which ones match the storyboard best and then putting them quickly into the place where they will go into our opening sequence. Today we all was ready to edit so Kirstie began editing, she edited the parts at the beginning where Jessica wakes up and gets her clothes. Then i started to edit, i was editing the sections where Jessica is in the bathroom and she is getting her hair and lipstick ready. When choosing these parts i then felt that they needed to be cut down so to cut down these sections i pressed 'b' for blade then 'a' for the arrow again and deleted the unwanted clip. When i was editing the hair section i thought i could speed it up as it may look better. But after modifying the speed of the clip from 100 percent to 200 percent i thought that it didn't look professional and looked weird and so i then tried 150 percent to see if it looked any better. After viewing the section again i felt that it still didn't look professional so after this i felt that i should go back to how the clip was. I learnt from this because i know to try out the speeds to see if they would make it better and if not make the clip back the the original speed.
Becky and Kirstie then went on to finish adding and editing the last parts so that everything was in the right place. After this we looked at the time of the opening sequence and it was around 2 minutes and 17 seconds so then we decided to get together as a group and start to cut down unwanted pieces of footage. We had to look at big sections that could be cut at first then after this we started to delete little sections and speed up some clips. After a lot of time we managed to get our opening sequence down to 1 minute 59 seconds which we was very happy with because it took a lot a time to get these clips cropped and sped up so that they still look professional. Although we still have to agree what will be the end shot we see of the opening sequence so far it is between a clock going around really fast that we have already filmed or we may just put the title into that section when we add the titles. We still have a lot of time so we will have to see how it turns out, we still would like to get Lucy who plays the character Ellie to come and do the voice overs. But we are going to wait until we know what she will say at what point in the opening sequence.
Also today we made a video of us discussing what we are up to when editing and what we are all doing. The reason we did this is because we can put it on to our blog instead of writing a brief thing of what we are doing we made a video instead. We put the video into imovie where we then got it ready to upload but today we did not have enough time to put it onto youtube then on to our blogs so the next time we are in media we are going to upload this video.
Overall i was pleased with the progress that we have done today because we managed to get all of the footage we took of Ellouise on to Final cut and then we all started to edit it. But not only that but we managed to get it to below the time of 2 minutes which i was very pleased with because it took a lot of time to find bits that we didn't need no more because we was very happy with how it looked but in the end we managed to get all the bits we wanted but using less time which is a bonus. We are ahead of where we thought we would be but still have a lot to do but are on top of things so far.
Below are some screenshots to evidence what we have done today:
