What kind of Media institution might distribute your media product and why?

A production company funds a film project and provides them with the tools to produce the film, mainly this includes funding because they may need vast amounts in order to build the film they desire production can include casting, editing and equipment . This includes pre-production and post production, so from making the film to editing the film they will help them along the way. After this the production company will sell what they have produced to the distributor.

A film distributor is a company which will have been sold a film after it has been produced, by a production company. A film distributors job is to release the film this can be through, the cinema and how it reaches the big screen, DVD's, and even how it gets onto the telly. This is the job in which they have to provide for the film. In my opinion Facebook, Twitter and youtube sites are 'unofficial' distributors because it is a way in which a film could get itself distributed across to the public.

I would try get touchstone productions to distribute my film because they have distributed a few romantic comedy films so they will know how to distribute to attracted the target audience i would like to reach. They distributed pretty woman which is a romantic comedy and it was a success so by using this company we could hope for similar success.

Our money for our film would ome from one investor with a lump sum this is good beause we know what we are getting and if we want our film to be sucessful we need a large amount of money. There is a downside where we might have to make the film how the investor wants it to be but we are able to do this is we can get a reasonable profit and to do this we need money for advertising and anything else to push our film out there.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

This screen grab is of our prelim which we have made and in this particular shot the camera was shaking which looks unprofessional. And Below is a screen grab of us doing a similar shot without the camera shaking i believe by us making this mistake in our prelim it has helped us when filming our opening sequence. This is good because the camera shaking would not be acceptable for our opening sequence as we want it to look as professional as possible.

Above is a screen grab which is a bad shot because the body is in the way to much covering the other person, we saw this after we made our prelim and then said we would have to look out for any obstacles or people that could get in the way of what we are filming. And in the screen grab below you can see that their is a teddy right on the edge of the screen we moved it so that it did not get in the way and i feel we realised this because we learnt from our mistakes in our prelim as we let obstacles get in the way.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

As you can see in these screen shots these are two different people getting ready for work, i believe this represents business women to be classy and looks after herself whereas on the other hand we have the art teacher who is very clumsy and is late to work. For me this is how we have represented this particular social group as we have made the business woman very prim and proper and the art teacher to be very silly and clumsy. Also to clearly show we have represented these women in this way we got Lucy to do a voice over which does explain a lot as to how and why they act in a certain way.

Also represents them differently as on has to use public transport and the other uses her own car this for me shows their social groups and how much they earn or what they spend their money on. Here are screen grabs above showing the transport which we have shown them using in our opening sequence. This in my opinion really represents the social groups they are in because they spend their money on different things.

This is a character from the movie the proposal and she reminds me of the girl in our movie called Jessica they relate as this woman is strong and independant. Also she works for a buisness just like Jessica from our movie. Overall they both are very similar and i would say that they are almost identicle as they do not like to show their true emotion and have various layers to what you see.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process on constructing this product?

Above is a collection of screen grabs, they all show which sites i have used to help me throughout my making of the opening sequence. There are many different varieties which have all used many purposes into me making the opening sequence. Not just sites but programs were also used such as imovie and final cut as they was key to making my opening sequecne the best it can be.

My phone i used this many times during the production of our opening sequence. We all had to communicate using our phones allowing us to meet up and film sections or even organise the voice overs and anything else. So overall this piece of technology has helped us significantly because without it we may not be able to be as organised as we were. Thankfully we all had a mobile phone which allowed us to communicate fast between each other.

This is a mac which has the programs loaded onto them and with these vital programs our opening sequecne would not be as professional. Mac's are very fast and effective when it comes to producing and making the opening to our film.

The camera and obviously this was needed to film our actual opening and without it we would not have a video.

The tripod we used tokeep our camera still for specific shots.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In these screen grabs you can see we have used costumes to show the difference between the characters also by the way in which they travel. For me this is a typical rom com opening because shot are montaged show two main characters acting completely different. Also we show them in their work place which can really express personality which they both have and i think this challenges to typical conventions of a romantic comedy. Also we don't  see a man in the opening sequence which is new because a lot of the time in opening sequence we will see a male character that is how i think this opening sequence challenges the typical conventions.

Who would be the target audience for you media product?

Here is what i feel is our intended target audience is. Her name is Lucy and she is 17 years old and is currently a student in collage studying hair and beauty. As you can see she takes pride in her appearance and she spends between 2-3 hours a day just to get her hair to look good. Other than being a student in collage she also has many other interests and hobbies. As you can see by the hat she loves to party, she usually spends every friday night looking for a party she can go to, as she just enjoys socialising. Parties are not just how she loves to socialise, she has her mobile phone which is a Blackberry and she uses instant messaging and social networks to talk to her friends, she uses Blackberry Messenger, Facebook and Twitter most commonly. 

She has big interests in celebrities  as she reads magazines such as, OK, Hello and Heat magazine to keep up on all the latest gossip on her favourite celebrities.  But she does use Twitter on her mobile to see what all the latest trends and catch up on any news she may have missed. Lucy does like to look her best and to do this she regularly goes shopping with three of her best friends. Lucy loves fashion and all the latest 'must haves' she loves to shop at H+M, Top-shop and Primark. But having such expensive clothes 'needs' she needs to have money, Lucy still lives at home and has one younger brother so her Mum and Dad give her a weekly allowance, this is not enough for whats she enjoys. But she has a part time job working in the local Riverisland which she works every saturday and sometimes on a sunday if she needs the extra cash.

Lucy loves to eat at Mc Donald's as their is one close to her work so she loves to eat there on her break, but one thing she could not live without is Coca Cola. She loves Coca Cola it is her favourite drink in the world. Lucy is not really fussy about food or drink but she loves Mc Donald's and Coca Cola as they are her all time favourite foods and drink.

If lucy ism't out at parties, at the shops or at work she loves spending time with her boyfriend, Lucy has been in this relationship for over a year. And as you can see she still wears the necklace he gave her on their anniversary.  And she loves to go to his house after collage many nights and sometimes on a sunday if she is not working. Often on a special occasion or she is bored of staying in she will ask her boyfriend to take her to the Cinema to see a new must see film. Lucy loves Romantic Comedies because she can relate to the feeling on being in love and they always leave her with that feel-good feeling which she loves. Sometimes she will watch other genres of film but this would usually be if the film is a 'must-see' for example 'The inBetweeners Movie' or 'Avatar' and even 'Toy Story 3'. As you can see lucy will not just stick to the one Genre which she loves but she may watch other genre of films if everyone is going to see it. Her favourite all time film is The Devil Wears Prada because she loves the friendship which the characters have and it relates to her life.

Blog Update: Beginning of the lesson 09/02/2012

Today is the last lesson we have to edit and we still have a lot to do so we need to really focus on what we have to do. We first need to record our voiceover as it is a key feature of our opening sequence as it sets the mood for the film and introduces the characters. Because of loads of set back it has been left to the last lesson unfortunately but we need to do it today, Lucy is going to be here in half an hour so we need to make sure it is done by the end of the lesson. So now we are just finishing the last of our titles on our opening sequence and then that should just leave us with the voice over. So we as a group are hoping everything goes well in lesson today. If we do not finish then i said i would stay after school and get it done because the others are unable to stay after school.

Today...

Making my title today

Here is the title which i have been creating today for this one we decided not to have it interact with the clip. So i decided to have this come on the screen then go off simply because the clip is not too long and i think this looks the most professional for this particular clip. It took me around 40 minutes to finish this title because i had to get the right length of time and make sure the transitions looked professional instead of powerpoint style transitions. After finally choosing the best transition for the title i managed to then place it onto our opening sequence and after a few minutes tweaking, i then finished making my title. 

This means i have now finished all the titles that i was going to make i made the title where Lucy falls over and blows her hair. and i also made this title and now all thats left it for Becky to finish the last two titles we need to do then we have to record the voice overs which is now key for us to finish next lesson.

Voiceover script

Here is our Voiceover script which we have put together, now that it has all been planned we just hope it goes as planned if it does then our opening sequence should look a lot more professional. I am pleased with how this voiceover lookes because it includes comedy and explains the story plot which is what we hope it can do when it is finally produced. But for me i feel that the voice over will make our opening sequence look much better and feel more like an opening sequence rather than a trailer. At least that is what i hope we can achieve by doing this. We as a group now just wait for Lucy to be able to come in then we can finally record our voiceovers, that is all that is left because we do not need to plan as we havedone everything we can do for the voiceovers now we just need Lucy.

Here is a to do list that i have put together for our group to look at so we can see what we have left to finish for our opening sequence. This will help us achieve the best grade we can, and by organising our to do list this will help us as we move along because we are going to be ticking off what we have done and hopefully can finish all of this in time. This will also help me because i can now keep referring to this when we are in lesson in case we are confused as to what we have to do as now we have it in a list.

Blog Update: 06/02/2012

Today i have gone back over some of my blog and have added more detail and filled in some incomplete sections. We had a chance to edit but i decided not to because kirstie was not in and i thought it would be unair to edit without her so i dedicated the lesson to go back over my blog and complete and add more work to other sectons of my blog. Our teachers were both not in today so we could do anything, monday period 5 are usually lessons where we look at TV drama for our exam but as they were not in we decided to do our coursework. And today i made sure that my blog was looking better and checked the feedback that Miss O'Dell had given me about my blog and made sure that  am making my blog the best of my ability.

And then tomorrow we have a double lesson periods 1+2 and we would like to get recording our voiceovers. I also hope that i can finish the last title that i have to do. We are also going to write out a script for Lucy to read from and screen grabs of the clip next to it. This is what i hope we can achieve tomorrow then that just leaves us some time to begin to finish and make our opening sequence look the best, and then make our blogs look the best they can be with all the appropriate details.

Blog Update: 02/02/2012

We started to record the very beginning of our voice over today but unfortunately we didn't have enough time to finish anything and we plan to get all of it done in the next double lesson which we have. Today we had our VIMA assessment so we didn't have as much time as we planned but we was only left with around twenty minutes. in these twenty minutes we managed to get Lucy to come and start to record our voice-overs but we ran out of time and now we plan to complete the voice overs on the 7th of February.  Today at least we managed to start recording and Lucy was finally able to come in but now we need to make sure everything goes to plan on tuesday the 7th .

Blog update beginning of lesson: 02/02/2012

We have just finished our Vima 3 assessment and now have Around twenty minutes left so what we have done is, called Lucy to come in and record some of our voice over. We may not finish it today but it is good for us to finally get a start on the voice over, and once we have done this our opening sequence will start to take shape. Its a shame we don't have that much time today i would like to stay through break but i have to travel so we will have to finish it next week if we are unable to finish it. But hopefully we can get as much done as possible.

Making a Title

Here is an example of us making our titles in LiveType, we have selected the font style we wanted. After we have done this we then went on to select a colour for the at this point we choose pink because it associates with rom-com but we may change it later because it is very dark and we could change it to be white.

Here is after we completed what it looked like we went on to export it so that it was ready to put into our opening sequence. We saved it as an appropriate name so we could find it when we put it into our opening sequence.

Above we put the clip into LiveType so we could place it where we wanted it more effectively, after trying this we found it quite effective and worked well but unfortunately this clip we sped up in the opening sequence so we had to adjust it here so it matched the speed of which it runs.

Blog Update: 26/01/2012

Today we all dedicated the lesson to making the rest of the titles as we said in the video we would like to make the titles interact with the clips. So for the first two name titles Kirstie wanted to edit because she missed the lesson before, so she edited and after she had done they looked really professional. Me and Becky helped her along the way but she did all the editing for this section. As you can see below this is one of the titles which we all agreed looked good and that Kirstie edited.

Then after Kirstie had edited the two titles she wanted to it was my turn to edit and i had to do the title for the bit where Lucy blows her hair. We all agreed that we should make this title blow off screen as she goes to blow her hair. If done successfully this could look very professional and Romantic comedy like. I had to find the right transition which made it look like it has been blown off screen, after looking i found a transition but it didn't look as effect as we wanted it to. Then Kirstie came and helped me find the right transition and we put it into our opening sequence. Below is a photograph of me editing the title.




Then we run out of time because we spent a lot of time making sure that our titles were the best that they possibly could be. But we met most of the targets that we had set at the beginning of the lesson, as we wanted to make most of the titles if not all of the titles by the end of the lesson and today we made a big progress in the title making. But we have experienced a problem which was that in the middle of or opening sequence it comes up ' genral error' and refueses to play so next lesson we are going to have to look into what is a matter with FinalCut but it could of made itself better by then.
